Sunday 9 September 2007: Balmerino Abbey
Among other things today, we went to visit Balmerino Abbey. Heading over the hill from the A92 I was surprised to suddenly see the Tay and Dundee in the distance - I forget how close it is. The wind was getting up, and the estuary looked cold and uninviting.
Which was odd, as according to the plaque, the Abbey was situated here, about 800 years ago, because of the pleasant climate.
Unfortunately it is not in great shape, but must have been impressive in its day.
