Tuesday 11 September 2007: Willkommen auf Bremen!
First (and worst) leg of the home journey complete, considerably less painfully than travelling in the opposite direction, I'm delighted to report.
Now for a gripe:
Why do hotels insist on charging you extra for internet access? The hot water and electricity in your room costs the establishment a varied amount depending on the amount you use, yet the cost is included in the room rate. Internet access doesn't, yet isn't.
It's utter madness. I've elected not to pay 12 Euros for half a day's access (eight hours of which I'll be fast asleep) and am sticking to using my mobile (which is expensive, but still cheaper than that nonsense).
The same gripe extends to the mini bar. Why not make all the stuff normal price? If it was, it would be empty by now and the wee kiosk round the corner wouldn't have got my business instead.
The lift in this joint is like the see-yourself-as-you-are room in 10 Years Younger (or is it Extreme Makeover?). Can you tell I've been drinking beer every day for a week and a half?
