'The Miner'

Last October I featured a picture of the new memorial to the Auchengeich Mining Disaster.

Sadly, the following month I had to report that it had been stolen.

It was never recovered and the likelihood is that it was used for scrap metal.

However the good news is that a replacement was commissioned and was unveiled today by First Minister Alex Salmond. The event was well attended and the local community are delighted to see it reinstated in memory of those brave men who lost their life doing their dangerous job.
