Excursion to the Snow

Finally, today dawned with some sunshine, but a freezing wind from the south.   A decision to go to the snow was made, and we were on the road by 9.30am.  The mountains as we travelled west towards Tekapo were amazing with the sun shining on them.  Fingers crossed that the weather will hold out.

And it did, well sort of.

Snow was piled up on the sides of the road....it was difficult to find somewhere to park.  We stopped on the roadside near a rest area & had heaps of fun making a snowman, then having snowball fights.  The Wellington grandies had never seen snow, and the absolutely loved it.

We travelled onto Tekapo where the weather wasn't so flash, very cloudy & very cold.  A lovely meal at the 'local' then some photo's around the lake, the colour was horrid.

I have chosen Friday, McKenzie's dog;  1855 Legend tells of how Mackenzie and his faithful dog Friday, whom was trained not to bark, stole whole mobs of sheep from the coastal South Canterbury......its a great story, Google "McKenzie & his dog" for the whole story, its worth a read.

Another late blip like last night....busy busy, fun, fun
