the jacket

This is the label from the inside of my favourite item of clothing.
It's a suit jacket that belonged to my late Grandad. The trousers were always too short for me, but the jacket fits perfect. He bought it in the 60s just before I was born, but never really liked it, so it stayed in his wardrobe 'til he passed it on to me twenty years later.

I never wear suits and have never found one that I'm as comfortable in as this jacket.

It's a beautifully made, simple cut, dark and heavy winter material with a great warmth in both colour and temperature. The lining is in need of some repair and there is a button missing, other than that it looks like new.

Every time I put it on I'm reminded of my Grandad.
