Friday 11 June 2010: Weeds around a mazet

This morning after buying wine at the Domaine Estève I stopped at this mazet (vineyard shelter) near Roquessels that I've blipped before. After all the rain we've had the mazet is surrounded by weeds, and I liked the combination of these wild grains and an allium flower head against the old wood and stone.

According to a friend of ours in the village, if it rains on St Médard's day (which was on Tuesday, and it did rain) it will rain for 40 days unless St Barnabé lui coupe ses pieds, cuts his feet, that is, it doesn't rain and it cuts the sequence. St Barnabé's day is today - it's grey, but it hasn't rained yet, so fingers crossed!
