Archaeology

This chest of drawers was bought second hand by my parents when I was a child over fifty years ago and given to us by them when we were young and poor and needed all the furniture we were offered. It's moved with us to many houses in several countries and now Lo Jardinièr is stripping the layers of paint from it to reveal a rustic but rather beautiful (I think) wooden piece of furniture.

One of the drawers, we found, was lined with pages from a 1975 copy of the Guardian, probably from the time when we acquired it. It's quite an interesting historic document - Callaghan was prime minister, the late lamented Michael Foot was employment secretary, the Guardian cost 10p and for those who wanted to keep up to date with technology there's a pocket calculator advertised on the inside pages .... for £119.

Enough distractions, I must get back to work now!
