Friday 18 June 2010: Birthday dedication to my daughters
I'm off work today. Friday's off for the summer. - whoot! It was so good to have an extra day to run around town and get some errands done. We plan to leave in the morning for our trip. Lots still to do this afternoon to get ready.
This morning I decided to go out to Shore Acres State Park Botanical Garden. It was overcast, but by the time I arrived, it was beautiful and sunny. Not the best for photographing flowers, but I managed to get a few photos I liked.
I'm dedicating this rose to my daughter Nicole who turns thirty today and to my other daughter, Naomi who turned thirty one the end of May. Thirty always seems to be such a jump coming out of your twenties. I never did a proper dedication blip for my oldest, so this is for both my daughters. I was very young when they were born, so I'm really not too old :)
I don't usually get very personal or emotional on my journal, so if you want to skip this part, go right ahead. This is not my typical blip. I'm going to get emotional on this one though. Tears are already welling up as I write this.
My faith and being the mom of two lovely daughters has gotten me through some really difficult years during an abusive marriage. My poor daughters have grown up in a very dysfunctional home. No child should ever have to go through what they did. My life is so different now and I'm blessed with being married to a wonderful man who is my best friend. I look back on those years and wish it had been different, but then we all would not be the women we are today.

I'm so blessed to have you both as my daughters. I hope this year is an awesome year for you both and that you are able to move forward with your goals. It took guts to move to New York and to pursue your dreams. I hope this turns out to be an awesome year. I'm always proud of you and glad to be your mom. I just wish I didn't live so far away from you. It would be fun to go out for a great birthday dinner and then go get pedicures together! I hope I get to come hang out with you in the fall!
Colie, I hope your day is awesome and that you have a great day! Just focus on the future and your thirties will be amazing!
