Golf Country

The Palm Springs area is famous for it's golf courses. I don't play golf.

Palm Springs, Indio, and La Quinta are all in a desert in Choachella Valley, southern California, at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains.

The golf courses are green because a good portion of the water from the Colorado River and the Imperial Valley to the south are sprinkled on the golf greens daily. I don't know what will happen when the water dries up ... some more.

We don't come here for the golf. In February, when it is 10 degrees F in Alaska, it is 72 degrees F here in La Quinta, sunny, clear blue skies, nice. The golf courses make a great place for a early morning walk about.

We are just passing through here early for a reminder of what it is like so we will make plans to return in the darkest part of Alaska winter.
