Kendal

Tonight Tiree and I attended the Business in the Community Awards Dinner. The company we work for, Impact International, was re-accredited as a "Small Company of the Year" for 2010

While waiting to pick Tiree up I took the opportunity to get a blip in Kendal.

This is Kendal's Coat of Arms and depicts bale hooks used for lifting and moving bales of wool. The thistle-like objects are teasels, which is a plant which, when dried, would have been used to card (straighten) the wool before spinning.

The motto has been interpreted as "Wool is my bread" suggesting the town's, at one time, reliance on the wool industry.

Kendal is also associated with brushes, snuff and Mint Cake.
