Armed Forces Day - Kabul -2010

Armed Forces Day has been established to raise awareness of what our (UK) certainly heroic and brave men and women who are in uniform do. Many events have been organised and funds have been raised.

So it came as a bit of a shock to see a really cool BBQ in full swing here in the base organised to perfection by the UK element.

As a former soldier it has been great to just sit at a distance and marvel at what today's young men and women are doing, in a break from ops, to contribute.

Was I really like them once? I sincerely hope so.

All the other nations here of course contribute in many ways and have lost people but there's something a certain panache, about our sailors, soldiers, airmen and marines. God they do seem sooooo young!
