Saturday 26 June 2010: Columbia River kayaking
Back Blip
It was pretty windy today. The Columbia River was very choppy. A stark contrast to the first night at camp, where the water was so calm. I said I would not go kayaking when the water was like that, but I did. Several of us through out the day went out on the river and did some kayaking. This photo was taken earlier in the day, of my son-in-law, trying out my kayak. When I went out later in the afternoon it was the roughest water I had ever been in with the kayak. I was constantly watching the waves and trying to sail over them without tipping, so it was a bit stressful. I didn't stay in very long. I got out when I turned around and saw a big barge with lumber coming along.
At the end of the day, we all put on our matching t-shirts and got together for a group photo. It was a really fun day. Tomorrow we pack up and leave. It will be a long drive home.
