Contrasts

A day of two halves, a day of contrasts. First, a trip into Stirling for a wander around the shops and a bite of lunch (even managed to persuade the pair of them off the McDonalds). This kept little Miss Materialism happy before we headed off into the Hillfoots for a nice afternoon's woodland walk, which kept the young 'un happy.

First half spent fighting through traffic on four wheels and then on two legs in the big shiny and sterile shopping centre, second half scrambling up and down hills, climbing trees, looking under boulders and leaves for creepy crawlies and splashing in burns. Guess which half kept me happy?

Another interesting contrast between these two that I've noticed before was apparent today. I gave them both an advance on their pocket money whilst shopping and within five minutes Heather had hers spent on a couple of DVDs (Moulin Rouge and Cabaret...!). Asking Euan where he wanted to go to spend his he said it was OK, he didn't need anything just now, and stuck the money away in his wallet. Can't decide which is more worrying though, Material Girl or Frugal Boy.

Happy days.
