A walk to Hartshead Pike

After a few little annoyances, I decided to blow away the cobwebs by walking up to Hartshead Pike, a local landmark. It had the desired effect, and I came down more relaxed.

On a clear day, four counties can be seen from the pike. It was originally a beacon site, a fire would have been lit there to warn of danger, or in celebration of a great event. It is thought that the site has been used for that purpose since Roman times.

The original pike was completed in 1867.
