I'll have to confess to being less than sure that Spain would actually win the World Cup. There was a real sense of optimism here and my doubts weren't aired in public. No Spaniard even considered the chance that the Dutch would beat them. What did come as a surprise was the refusal of the Dutch to play football in favour of karate and the Spanish vitriol towards the whole of England as a result of Howard Webb's somewhat lacklustre performance (ie the fact that the Dutch weren't reduced to 9 men by half time).

As predicted last night, the TV feed didn't stand the strain and we had to keep switching to the radio with corroboration from Twitter as to what was going on.

The pig was delicious, by the way.

And we had a nice sunset.
