Friday 30 July 2010: VANELLUS VANELLUS
It was extremely peaceful down the road today as, due to the light, but persistent, rain it seemed that no-one, other than a mad woman in search of a blip, was willing to venture out.
As I lingered by the gate of the first field I conducted a silent conversation with three 'teenage' sheep (I think they were hoping that they would be my choice of the day) a Lapwing landed in the field and although I was some distance away from him/her (with a gate between us, too) I was able to take the above picture.
As I progressed on my walk I discovered a whole flock of the birds further down the field and as I prepared to take a picture of them, en masse, they took to the air and circled around my head five or six times. I did manage to catch them in their flight but the resultant shots were sub-standard.
I am off to spend the day with MsGable tomorrow and I am very excited about the prospect.
