Thursday 12 August 2010: Night eucalyptus

I went out looking for the Perseids but was frustrated by clouds to the north. I turned around and saw Jupiter, with Europa, Ganymede and Callisto behind my neighbour's eucalyptus tree. I don't have the skills for a decent blip of these but I felt a strong empathy for Galileo who saw them much I saw them tonight, through his hand-crafted telescope in the early seventeenth century.

This is a compromise: a long shot, enhanced a little, of the eucalyptus, which rustles and sways in the gentle night breeze.
