Sunday 14 October 2007: Community Woodlands
Finally got around to going to help out at our local Community Woodlands this morning.
Was looking forward to a blip of 'Old man of the Woods' Bri doing things with trees. Well, it wasn't quite like that, as the car park had a recent visit from some fly-tippers, so we spent the first hour building a rough wall from some abandoned concrete blocks, and hiding about 60 tyres while we try to figure out what to do with them.
Did then go and do some tree stuff - there are a lot of oak saplings (about 10 years old) which need pruning etc, and lots of people were working on path clearing. It is still in its early stages as a wood, but the group are currently trying to acquire some plots of more established forest, and then plan to build a network of paths linking them together.
Achey now.
