deoksu palace door. one of the "five grand palaces" in seoul, deoksugung was last inhabited by korean royalty at the beginning of the 20th century, prior to the japanese occupation. right in the historical downtown of one of the most densely populated cities in the world, the palace is an oasis of calm and one of my favorite places to escape the frenetic pace of korean life.
