The Edge of the Wold

Catching up on the news

This is Bob the cat. It's been a morning of torrential rain and few opportunities for venturing outside. So this is the first time he has featured in this Blip Journal, and it has to be said not the most accomplished of photographs.

It's difficult to photograph Bob, he is so black that most pictures of him come out as a black silhouette. This one is no different in the low natural light of a heavy-clouded morning, but I liked the fact that he is nestled next to the radio listening to John Humphries on the Today programme.

Bob is banned from the bedroom because his frequent nocturnal comings and goings tend to be announced by a loud yowling as he says Hello. There is also the matter of the occasional mouse that is brought in triumphantly, and Bob has an especially pleased-with-himself call to announce his hunting success. So he's been sleeping in the kitchen, and lately has taken to sleeping either in the middle of the kitchen table or here on the work top next to the radio. Wifie has taken pity on his discomfort on the hard surface and given him a fleece to sleep on.

Not to be encouraged perhaps, but he is too lovable and we are too soft.

This blip follows on closely from last night's life.turns entry. So if you haven't seen it already, please have a look.
