my seoul

junjin truck. i feel like im maybe overdoing the panning vehicle in motion shots, but there were slightly scientific reasons for this one. i picked up a used panasonic g1 yesterday for about the price of the gf1's accessory viewfinder that i was trying to avoid buying, and wanted to see how its af tracking compared to my canon 5d's.

why a g1 if i already have a gf1? i've had a love/hate leaning more towards hate relationship with the gf1 and the fact that you need to use the rear lcd to compose your photos. yes i know there's an optional (crappy) viewfinder but its ridiculously overpriced in korea. its a great little cam, the 20 1.7 lens is a gem. it's a small stealthy lightweight photo taking machine but holding it out at arms length just felt terrible/awkward/made me angry, and i found that i was lugging around my much heavier 5d instead because it provided a much better picture taking experience.

enter the g1. picked it up used from another expat in seoul for next to nothing. put it up to my eye, and as soon as i looked through the big (electronic) viewfinder (similar in size to the 5d) i knew it was the small cam for me. yup, its bigger than the gf1, and weighs more, but taking photos with it is actually enjoyable. and isn't that what it's all about?
