Sedum - another vivid example of the Fibonacci sequence.

The Fibonacci numbers are Nature's numbering system. The sequence sees little publicity these days outside of a Dan Brown novel and the occasionally nerdy conversation which may or may not involve warp core propulsion mechanics. However, the Fibonacci sequence is an amazing bit of numbers that ties nature and mathematics together in surprising ways. They appear everywhere in Nature, from the leaf arrangement in plants, to the pattern of the florets of a flower, the bracts of a pinecone or the scales of a pineapple. The Fibonacci numbers are applicable to the growth of every living thing, including a single cell, a grain of wheat, a hive of bees and even all of mankind.
