Drowning

Cal was working on the trains today so I went to collect him at Tenterden. It was a Thomas the Tank Engine day so there were a good few folk there as well as a different engine (as Thomas of course) and the staff who work with Thomas. Amongst the Thomas staff there is the Fat Controller who really does look and act the part. There was also some special local beer but I was driving so I couldn't sample it. Finally I settled on this shot. The guy is on the footplate of Thomas as he runs up and down the platform giving people rides on Annie and Clarabel. This man spent all the time I was there keeping an eye on the platform as the train moved up and down and he was clearly getting tired - he was supposed to be waving but had been reduced to listlessly rotating his wrist - in some shots it looks as though he's lost a tray he was holding.
