Randonneurs

Another day out waling as the sun shone down on us. Anost, the large village near the tiny village of Varin where we're staying, seem to be something of a walking centre. And as we stopped in the village to grab a couple of bits of food for our own walk the car park there was filling up quickly. Including a friendly carful who parked alongside us as I went to the local store, the driver quite happily stripping down to his pants with Mel waiting in the passenger seat, to change into his walking trousers.

Exhibitionist show over we actually set off about 15km away, for a walk around the highest point in the Morvan park, l'Haut Folin at about 840m. The 11.5km route providing wildlife in the form of butterflies, tiny frogs, bugs and plenty of birds, from raptors to the brilliant site of a Crossbill sitting atop a pine.

And then there were the mushrooms, thousands of 'shrooms, including a couple of giant ceps. Humungous ceps. Books, apps and websites were pored over to confirm the initial identification, and by eck they didn't half taste nice on a bit of toast sat out behind the house in the evening sun, watching a Buzzard soaring high above, and a hot air balloon taking off over the valley.
