Friday 24 September 2010: This is not Afghanistan: this the european union

Dawn on Misrah Ghar il-Kbir (informally known as Clapham Junction because of its Cart Ruts. On Malta there are approximately 50 hunters per square kilometre. When you are out driving around or walking in the mornings people you see walking aimlessly around or sat in the lee of walls or trees are probably carrying a gun.

These three were covering the ridge and the two hundred or so square metres around us. It as to be said, they did not make us feel welcome. I'm fairly certain we won't be invited over for coffee.

Later, these guys shot a wader (illegally) probably a dotterel.

On a happier note, strong winds meant very few Broadwing raptors, and there was a passage of 3000 swallows that got through relatively unmolested.
