Wimereux

We got up at the crack of dawn and drove down to Folkestone to catch the Eurotunnel to France. We?d originally planned to camp but chickened out last minute after seeing the weather forecast. We stayed in a nice little hotel in a seaside town called Wimereux. When we got there we realised why it had been so difficult to find a hotel room. The place was swarming with folks in cowboy hats. We had lots of lovely coastal walks (in very gusty wind) and came back to the hotel with rosy cheeks and very tangled hair. The kids had bought a birthday cake and candles. We went out to eat in the evening with the cake and candles in a carrier bag. It took forever to find a restaurant (everywhere was fully booked). We eventually found somewhere but unfortunately we were not allowed to put the candles on the cake and have a little sing song. The kids were disappointed. We returned to the hotel and had a little sing song in room 31 followed by a bottle of room temperature cava !
