Billy Goat

This can't be rushed - its SLOE gin!!!!!!!

We got out for that walk yesterday afternoon and picked a bag of sloes. A bit late this year but they were still firm and glossy.
A trip to the supermarket for some cheap gin and into action.
If you want the recipe here it is:
400g sloes,
200g sugar
1 litre gin (the cheaper the better - no prizes for using expensive stuff)
2 pins
An empty 1.5 litre bottle - glass not plastic.
Wash and sort the sloes, chucking any wrinkly or soft ones.
find a friend to help you prick sloes - be careful how and who you ask this.
Prick each sloe a dozen or so times.

add sloes, sugar and gin to big bottle, cap it and invert it many times to dissolve the sugar.
Invert every day for first two weeks, then every week for next couple of months.
After about three months or when colour is really red, decant the gin back into the original bottle - you didn't throw it away did you?
Drink at leisure it keeps for at least two years and gets better and better.
