The Lozarithm Lens

Wootton Bassett

This section of the restored Wilts and Berks Canal at Wootton Bassett wasn't my intended blip for today. In fact, I only called in here briefly on my way back from somewhere else to see if the swan I'd encountered before was still there, possibly with some cygnets if my theory at the time had been correct. There was no sign of them, but this Aylesbury duck was there again.

I'm mystified by this picture as it seems to me to contain an optical illusion whereby the reflections behind the duck appear to rise up behind it, when the water lilies to the left reveal the true level of the canal.
