Wednesday 20 October 2010: The view from the trenches
On location today in Black Park near Pinewood in Berkshire.
We're shooting a few scenes about the First World War, all of which were very poignant. Mainly for me because it seemed to be a war of human against human rather than the more detached, mechanistic Second World War.
I had a look around the set before the actors arrived and looked up at the blue sky with just one hopeful white cloud in view.
