Don't ask how just eat up and enjoy!

Saturday is market day in Santa Pola, so got my camera bag and also our newly acquired 'old lady' shopping trolley...you know, the one with the little wheels and the handle that obediently follows wherever old ladies want to go...and set off for this major event.

Got there early, the sun was coming up nicely to light allsorts of shots...I got some nice ones of fruit sellers and interesting people, but they all looked like market shots that could have been in any country on any given Saturday.

Then I turned a corner to see a growing crowd of people, they were all either jostling for position to buy, or tucking into lovely hot Churros (sticky and sweet). These were obviously, just what the doctor ordered on this chilly morning and kept the menfolk happy, whilst their better half scoured the market for fresh produce and their other obsession here - shoes - it appears that women can never have too many shoes.

I hope the above are not taken as sexist comments, as I would strongly contest any such suggestion and have photographic evidence that will backup my observation!

Anyway back to the photo...the man with the wonderful machine, was like a Super Barista except that he wasn't a master of the coffee machine. Instead he skilfully piped a gooey mixture into a vat of hot oil and swirled it at the same time. The result looked like a giant cumberland sausage. and was very expertly extracted from the oil and sold in short tasty lengths to the still growing group.

I was paid no attention, as this delight made them oblivious of their surroundings as they chomped. This seems the equivalent for Spain of getting a hotdog when you go to IKEA, as not many of the locals passed without taking part.

It was one of those moments when a large group of people made very little noise!
