Civil War

They drank so much, suddenly
everything seemed all right.
Until, 'It's not really me
you want to be with tonight.'

He shrugged. Ordered another beer
and more lager and lime.
They discussed what he called love
and what she considered to be a crime.

Truce over.

So cheers. Bottoms up.
One more for the road.
Then back home to man the barricades.
Take aim. Fire! Reload.
