RIP Ianto Jones

We spent the day looking around the sights of Cardiff and had to visit the Millennium center and the waterfront where Torchwood was filmed.

Its exactly as it looks in the program except there where no flying pterodactyls, and not a single alien to been seen anywhere.

At the bottom of the Plaza there is a waterfront area with a boardwalk where the rear entrance to Torchwood was in the TV series and this is where one of the Characters Ianto Jones died in the final episode. I wasn't sure what it was at first but this is a photo of the public memorial that has grown there. Its mostly fans with messages like "Ianto we loved you" etc but there are also some touching messages about how the character, who had a gay relationship with John Barrowman's character in the program, made gay relationships more accepted in the UK. My favourite though was "Save Ianto Jones, Well its SiFi, anything can happen".

For those outside the UK, Torchwood was a TV SiFi series based on a long running children's series called Doctor Who. It was similar but for an adult audience and amongst other adult themes it did explore Gay relationships and included a number of Male/Male Kisses, which is very rare on the BBC.
