Feeding the birds

We put lots of different types of bird food out, to attract small birds to our garden: seed, fat cake, suet pellets, fat balls, dried meal worms ... We've got a healthy crop of teasels too, that the goldfinches enjoy. They're all very shy though, so the only bird that I could manage to grab a picure of today was a jackdaw!

Not a stunningly wonderfully composed blip, but it's too cold to have the door open for long.

Thank you to everyone who was concerned about the hedgehog yesterday. Sadly, I have to report that when we first saw it yesterday, it was probably already too late. We went out to check it but it hadn't moved and we realised that hubby was obviously mistaken when he'd thought he'd seen it breathing. I won't bore/gore you with the details, but suffice to say, the number one suspect is one of the badgers that regularly visit our garden.
