Tuesday 30 November 2010: Advent calendar - work in progress

This cross stitch project has been ongoing every year since the purchase of the magazine in 2001 - shame on me. The instructions proclaim that 2 motifs can be stitched in one evening - ha ha. Even with my daylight lamp and magnifying glasses I am unable to see what I am doing in anything but good natural light and my fingers just won't manipulate the needle properly any more. I have almost completed days 1-5 and 11-15 so I think I will pack it all up again and start in January - it may well be completed by next Christmas - or maybe not. My inability to master French knots means that a lot of tiny beads may have to be added to complete the project. To add insult to injury, the power has gone off twice already today so I have my stitching fingers crossed it won't happen again - and with my fingers crossed I can't cross stitch.
The snow is thawing but the bitter East wind is freezing.
