Wednesday 1 December 2010: Remember To Give Them Water
Everyone knows they are supposed to give the birds more food this time of the year. Everyone I know is hanging fat filled coconut shells up from branches or plant basket hangers.
But please, please, try and put a dish of water out in the morning. The birds will probably find food from somewhere, but with all their water supplies frozen they will struggle to find a drink.
The RSPB in the UK gives this advice on feeding the birds this winter.
To try and keep the water ice free, pop a ping pong ball in, it's movement will slow down the ice forming.
As you can see from mine, the air temperature has been below freezing again today. I have been out and changed it three times. I must go and buy some ping pong balls! ;o)
