Mediterranean Wanderer

Too busy lookin good.

We left Scotland in rather a hurry, due to a contact offering to share a crane hire with us to help us to get Madison in the water. As a result the essentials got done and the cosmetic stuff was put off. Madison has never looked as good as I know she can.

Being stuck in a marina for a while has allowed us to take stock of what is outstanding and prioritise the jobs. First came fitting more vents to lockers inside...you can never have enough air circulating to keep things from getting mould on them. Then came lining the bulkheads with the foam backed vinyl that we took with us, after not having time to fit it in Troon.

Today saw coat number 4 of the 9 coats of varnish the woodwork is getting and the cockpit received an undercoat in advance of the new deck paint that it is going to get.

Instead of looking like the poor relations in the Marina we will soon start to get admiring glances and the odd comment or two. It makes you smile when things start to look as they should and I can't wait for the time when all that is left is to give her a clean and some polish. It can't come fast enough for me. When we found her in a field I knew instantly she could look great.

I hope to be able to put up some pictures of her sailing sometime soon as she looks great cutting through the water. She is from 1982 and we have another few thousand miles to go on our planned journey so plenty of blip opportunities lay ahead. I think I need to invest in some sort of water protection hood so that I can get you guys some action shots.

For those interested there are many more shots of Madison here.
