A Drive into the Mackenzie Country

Me & my blipfinder were off early (too early) this morning and headed inland.
He was on work duties, me on blipping duty

At this time of the year, in the vastness & the dry looking MacKenzie Basin, the lupins come into their own. Scattered along the roadsides, and now spreading beyond the roadside making sensational colourful drifts. I took scores of images and the choices were immense - so here are two that represent my day. The top one is at Lake Tekapo, this is the Church of the Good Shepherd, situated on the shores of Lake Tekapo, a very popular tourist attraction (luckily, no tourist buses to be seen). The bottom one is further inland showing the southern alps minus the winter snow..... just masses of colour, hope you enjoy.
High overcast so no blue skys to be seen today, which would have completed the images well.

Enjoyed the outing, lots of rural activities going on, namely making hay and sileage, a hive of industry. We got our own hay baled yesterday, luckily as it is raining now.

Weekend tomorrow, finished my christmas shopping, will put the tree up and do some wrapping , yipee!!

TooRoo...

PS - Anyone know what has happened to Scorpion Kiss?
