Thursday 16 December 2010: Just a Little more....
and the nut will be tight, keep going lads. This is the first of the two Mill Crushing wheels being fitted to our second hand Pan Mill, these weigh about eight tonnes each and rotate on the shaft via a massive gearbox which is to be fitted right after the second wheel goes on which will be tomorrow (hopefully), or else we will be really behind the schedule.
I hope you are liking these little insights into my world of Winter shutdown in a brick Plant, boy was it cold today too.
As you can see we want these wheels really tight, as if they come loose while working they do enormous damage as well as being potentially life threatening.
I know one plant where one decided to come adrift, and it went through the guarding bounced and straight though the brick wall. There was no one injured in that accident.
