Meat Man

We went shopping today and bought a sandwich maker (Jaffle Iron) and when we were leaving the store, I spotted this employee loading a van with slabs of meat. Judging by the size of the order, the van probably belongs to a restaurant owner who has found a good deal.

There are a few things different about this picture. Different to you from outside China, because it is being unloaded in a car park into an unrefrigerated van. Just throwing slabs of meat into the back of a 'personal' van would be illegal for health reasons in Australia. It's also different for me to see this because most times I have seen this before, the meat was never wrapped and it had usually been sitting on the ground on an old blood stained tarpaulin before it was bought. This was bought from a large national company hence the extra care with the plastic wrapping.

This is not meant as a criticism of the local custom for food handling. Just as an "It's done differently here'>
