My heroes.

Its over a year now since Bray Town Council felled the trees at the back of my and my neighbours houses. They had been planted by residents in the estate behind us and for over the last few years had blocked out our the sunlight from us for the best part of the day. They were behind the fences in the photograph and as high as the houses in the background. When they were not blocking the light they cast a shadow over our gardens. The people who planted them were able to enjoy the sun in their gardens while dooming us to sunless periods during the day. It was very frustrating.

One day last year while the council were working on our road altering the footpath to accommodate better parking facilities they left some work unfinished. When they were called back to do it, they asked my neighboour was there anything else needed doing. My neighbour told the foreman of our plight and how on an inspection some years ago, one of their engineers reported the trees as a hazard because they wire causing her back wall to cave in. The foreman told her that he would have them taken down.

She thought nothing more of it until a few weeks later when she looked out her window and saw them being felled. I could not believe it myself, its very seldom that you hear something is going to be done and it actually is done.

Thanks to Bray Town Council we can see the light.
