Christ mass

We haven't watched much TV while on hols but what we have seen has been consumerism at its most driven. Buy, buy, buy because no-one will love you otherwise, especially at Christmas.
I am not an especially religious person but it really has made me wonder about what Christmas is really about. It's not about giving expensive (or cheap for that matter) gifts or about receiving them. It is really about marking and celebrating the birth of someone who Christians believe is God's gift to mankind.
I find it quite sad that on such occasion our secular society is more than happy to have the perks of the time off afforded by the Christian festival but give it little thought or consideration. Instead we over eat, over drink and over spend and mock those who think there is something more.
