The Yellow Door

I thought BT were pretty good at internet disconnection, but the US has proved much more efficient in bringing down their connection to the ship via a signal from their east coast.
This is apparently due to bad weather and we have not been able to phone ship to shore or access the internet for 48 hours.

However tonight it seems to have been fixed, so I will back blip yesterday's offering.

We docked today in Tortola, one of the British Virgin Islands and certainly the most sanitised of the West Indian islands we have visited.
It seems to be the playground of the well heeled, and we saw lots of large yachts anchored around Tortola and the smaller islands surrounding it.

The houses were also big and expensive looking and there didn't appear to be any humble dwelling houses like the ones we saw on the other islands we visited. Everything looked clean, well cared for and painted in bright colours.

We had a morning sail round the small islands renowned for pirates in an older age and then transferred to an open sided bus which took us up some steep hairpin bends to look down on vistas of wooded hills and sparkling bays with strips of golden sand.... and of course the ubiquitous yachts.

Now we are heading back across the Atlantic, heading for home and the ice and snow. It's going to be hard to wait!
