R.I.P. JW's

JW's served it's last beer on the last day of 2010. It was a simple, country bar that served locals before the massive housing and golf course communities surrounded it. Newcomers thought that it was only frequented by "rednecks" and bikers. My son, visiting, stepped into JW's, went up to the tiny bar and the locals told him that if he could identify the "country" tune on the jukebox, he could stay. He did, they bought him a beer, and it became a place he frequented on future visits. The sign out front sometimes said "Welcome Bikers". A friend pulled up on his bicycle (as opposed to his Harley), asked if he was welcome, and of course they greeted him as a friend.

JW's was decorated with Christmas lights year round. The garage door in the rear was opened most nights during the year, weather permitting. The room only had two pool tables, some chairs and the small bar, and sometimes Karaoke.

It was a locally owned business that will be missed. Who knows what will take it's place.

Happy New Year to all, and to the owner, James Williams.
