Thursday 6 January 2011: MONARCH #2
The background for this Monarch #2 of a series is a wheat paddock some distance away which gives a warm hue. The Monarchs get themselves quite damaged as time goes by for their short lives and this one is just starting to show some signs of scratching on its delicate wings.
My Mother-in-law ( Peg T.) was one of the first to introduce the Monarch to the South Island. she brought them in from the north Island and had them breeding all round the house. She absolutely loved them and thanks to her efforts and few others they became established here - where they seem now to be in good numbers. I love them too and I'm sure she would be pleased to see these on Blipfoto. were she still with us.
