Saturday 8 January 2011: MACRO
This is a very new bud on a backyard plant. I don't even know what it is called. It has flat bulbs that love crowding and gets very tall. The flowers are orange-red multi-trumpet like blossoms that the hummers just LOVE (maybe cause there aren't too many other choices for nectar?), and when the flower heads go to see they make pea sized red seeds that love to grow where I don't want them!
These whitish-green sections of the bud will stand vertical to the stem, get round and the colored center will look like a christmas tree bulb in the socket. Then they will open into the long trumpet flower. More pictures to follow as the stages of bloom appear.
Please help me identify!
