Feeding Time

Visiting old friends in Eastern Pennsylvania, I was treated to one of the three foraging rounds that four local deer make to their back yard every day "like clockwork." Here mother and child raid the bird feeder. Crops and vegetable gardens are regularly grazed, and the humans work out schemes on how to minimize the damage until hunting season, which is restricted to bows in this location due to a relatively high population density.

This shot was taken on a moment's notice through a kitchen window, and though it's not perfectly clear, it turned out to be my favorite picture of the day.
