Monday 10 January 2011: DOUBLE HAPPY
(I think) I remember a fire-works cracker that was called a 'double Happy' - it was a cracker and itr made a big bang !
Nothing to do with butterflies ? but having a double on a flower is unusual - they either fight and make each other fly off or they dont land at all - I considered I was especially fortunate to get the two of these - sharp! ( Cracker !)
These are 'Red admirals' ( Vanessa gonerilla - for the purist !)
Maori name is KahuKura a word also applied to the Rainbow and to the God that took care of travellers.
This butterfly has been knocked in its numbers through
(intelligently-not!) the introduction of a pupal parasite to kerb the Cabbage white..
Have you noticed the cabbage white is still around ??
Anyway enough grand-standing - pleased to blip two reds today.
rgdsd pooba.
