Copacabana

An early morning shot taken on way to the airport. The drive along the orla of both beaches is always inspiring in the early morning, and on departure mornings it is also touchd with the bitter-sweetness of not knowing when you will return.

This sculpture is of Carlos Drummond de Andrade, the influential Brazilian poet; he lived in Rio and this was his favourite spot.
