Ballet of The Tree and the Bell

This week is the St Mungo Festival celebrating the life of Glasgow's Patron Saint. During this week a number of events have been taking place at venues throughout Glasgow.

At lunchtime today it was the turn of the fabulous Visual Statement dance company (based in Easterhouse) to perform a specially commissioned ballet focusing on the Glasgow Coat of Arms, particularly the Tree and the Bell. The picture shows the trees (I think). It only lasted around 15 minutes but was captivating, as was their staged departure through the shopping centre.

The theme of the ballet also reflects Glasgow's motto:

The tree that never grew, The fish that never swam,
The bird that never flew, And the bell that never rang.
