Opossum and Cat on Fence

Ten in the morning,
An opossum walks along
the fence. Cat escapes.



I grew up thinking you pronounced this marsupial's name "possum," but apparently you can pronounce it with three syllables, which makes this a haiku--whew! I also thought they were nocturnal, but this pic was taken at 10 in the morning. I saw one in my very suburban backyard once at 6:10 a.m., about this same size, which I think is good-sized.

Too bad iPhones really are cell phones and not cameras, like my husband keeps telling me, or I might have gotten a better photo.
